Punjab Technical University (P.T.U.) is a state owned university of Punjab Government established under the gazette notification No. 1 -leg /97 dated 16.01.1997 Punjab Technical University has 101 colleges (58 Management College 34 Engineering colleges and 9 Pharmacy College). Under its Distance Education Programme it has more than 351 study centres all across India of IT and Non - IT and courses. All courses as per UGC Nomenclature referred to section 22 (1) of U.G.C.

All Degree, Mark-sheets are being awarded by P.T.U. directly and examinations are being conducted under the supervision of university at all India level simultaneously. University is a member of Association of India University (AIU) also accredited by International University accreditation association of U.S.A.
